Acclaimed as Ireland's first action movie ever, and also acclaimed as being one of the worst movies ever... Sounds good to me!

Jimmy has picked it up and thrown almost everything in Ireland.
Jimmy Bennet is a young man that has been away from his hometown for ten years, training in martial arts at a reform school, but now it's time to return to the house of his deceased father and sort out what to do next. His dad's place is an abandoned little house in the country, so Jimmy gets busy fixing the place up and heads into town to buy supplies. He sees some goofballs harassing a girl, so he steps in and knocks them out. The girl is Nichola, and she and Jimmy eventually start dating as he keeps rescuing her from bullies. There's also an old monk watching Jimmy, following him around town but keeping a distance. Through flashbacks we learn that Jimmy witnessed his father's murder when he was young, and it still haunts him everyday. Jimmy is one intense guy, but we see that he has reasons for being so troubled.
A local rich man is the boss of some sort of organized crime ring, and news of Jimmy back in town intrigues him because he was the man that murdered his dad! Deciding it would be great irony, the boss wants to hire Jimmy to work for him as muscle, but he also wants him dead.
The old monk eventually tells Jimmy that he knew his father, and that he wants to train and prepare him for an upcoming fighting tournament in town. They spend a few days in the forest, giving us one of the funniest training experiences I've ever seen. Luckily, it's amusing, because it takes up a large portion of the movie.
Training intensifies !
Picnicking intensifies !
The day of the tournament arrives, and of course Jimmy is up against all the local criminals and assorted maniacs. There's lots of action in the last half to make up for the slower beginning, and it's a roller coaster ride of motorcycle chases and guns! With all this danger, will Jimmy be able to survive long enough to discover the truth about his dad, and will he ever find peace in his new life? The ending, just like Jimmy himself, gets intense.
"Hurg! Kwop! Arrrgh!" - Jimmy
The acting is terrible, the camera work and editing is amateur, and everything feels lowest of the low budgets... But it still pulled me in and had me entertained every minute! There's an actual story here about a man coming to peace with his past, so it's not all just mindless action. The movie is poorly made but you can't deny that it was made with passion, and truly has some heart to it.
Be sure not to miss:
- Silly outtakes at the end.
- "Loose or else"
- It looks like the car crash wasn't planned to go like that. The outtakes seem to reinforce the idea.
- The naked cowboy!! No rhyme or reason to it, he just exists.
