Geteven (1993)

That's not a spelling error in my title, the opening credits say "GETEVEN" and fans of the movie have embraced the mistake with glee.

Rick Bode and his buddy Huck are two ex-LAPD officers who where kicked off the force when their boss, Lieutenant Normad, pinned some trumped-up drug charges on them. Rick and Huck are now disgraced cops, resigned to work a menial job as limo drivers.
It's not all bad times though, as the guys still unwind at the bar with beers, music and the occasional rowdy bar fight. Rick is even re-connecting with his ex, Cindy, so he gets a chance to display his skills of telling jokes, soaking in hot tubs and uncomfortable love-making.

Wave goodbye to the barely existing plot, because we just watch Rick and Cindy be romantic for awhile. Although we do learn that Cindy used to be in a satanic cult and that Lt. Normad was the evil leader!! What? Normad is also a federal judge now. Huh?
This movie is ten times weirder than I can describe, which brings me to Wings Hauser's portrayal of Huck. Holy shit, this man is bonkers. It seems like he's high on cocaine and just improvises everything he says and does. It's a wild performance, but it works because Huck's life and marriage are falling apart.

"My buddy here can speak Hammmlet!!" - Huck

Anyways, after a record breaking number of awkward scenes, Normad continues to ruin the lives of Rick and Huck, so the two men decide it's time to stop Normad and his satanic drug operation. We finally get some action near the end, and just like everything else here it is a sloppy and amateurish goldmine of "what-the-fuck-am-I-watching" fun.

Starring, directed and written by the multi-untalented John De Hart, this is clearly a passion project created to make himself look tough and have sex scenes with a hot babe. It's a mess in every way imaginable, but it somehow transcends itself and becomes art of the rarest quality for anyone seeking garbage that will delightfully entertain them.

An actual scene in the movie
What is the camera doing ?

I watched an interview with De Hart (he seems like a really chill guy) and he said that he was inspired by the surrealism of A Clockwork Orange. Wow, there's something to dwell on while you watch Geteven.

Be sure not to miss:

- The bleach thing.
- Yes, the poodle is wearing a karate black belt.
- Some serious Shakespeare.
- "I did not come here to get grossed out!"
- Sam, the Native American mannequin.

Internet review:
"The Geteven bandwagon isn't your typical bandwagon. The wheels are a tad wonky and the driver's
high on shrooms
." - YumYum

Should I watch it?
Oh god yes, but bring beer.

Where can I find it?
