Dr. Carl Stoner is a snake scientist specializing in the study of anti-venom and other such research. He lives on a farm with his daughter, Kristina, and about two dozen snakes that they take care of, including one grumpy old king cobra. Dr. Stoner is in need of a new assistant for the summer, so he recruits an eager college student named David to help with his research.

Dr. Stoner may be a genius and a nice man, but there's definitely something strange about him, and when the police come by looking for his previous assistant it's clear that Stoner is hiding a terrible secret.

The story moves slow but it's paced in such a way to be compelling. It's made very obvious that Dr. Stoner is using David as some sort of test subject but the nature of the experiment is unclear, so it still manages to build suspense as David begins to slowly experience odd changes.
Instead of a horror story it's more of an old fashioned thriller, and the filmmakers create a good mix of a genuine movie with a crazy B-movie premise appearing in the second half. Even though the mystery is easy to predict, it all gets much weirder than I was expecting!

- Snakes love whiskey.
- Why was the nudity covered up with fake leaves during post production?
- All of the snakes are real, but their sound effects sure aren't. It gets pretty funny.
- Steve is played by a young Reb Brown.
