Cyborg Cop II (1994)

"I was born for trouble."  - Jack

Jack Ryan is back in action, but so are those damn cyborgs! This time they've become even more deadlier, under the leadership of a terrorist cyborg out for revenge.
Starring: David Bradley, Jill Pierce, Morgan Hunter

Link to IMDB, despite the images and clips being for another movie.

Jack is back
Sam Firstenberg is back one year later for more cyborg cinema, but this time he goes for a more serious movie with a darker tone, taking place in the industrial cityscape. Aided by a bigger budget, the cyborg effects have definitely improved, and there's more fight scenes which benefit from some real choreography. All that said, things still get pretty ridiculous.
The story doesn't really have any connection to the first movie, except that Jack still lives in a world where scientists just can't stop making deadly cyborgs. I was hoping Alonna Shaw would reprise her role as the sassy Cathy, but instead we get a very forgettable Lady Agent who barely does anything until the end. Oh, but Jack's fanny pack is still in every scene!

There's no rescue mission to Jamaica this time, instead the focus is in the city where a mysterious agency has been conducting secret cyborg tests on convicts. One of these prisoners just happens to be Starkraven, a recent nemesis of Jack's. Starkraven is then reborn as the powerful Spartacus, and he escapes the agency and claims himself the new leader of the cyborgs. He wants revenge, so of course Jack and his family become his main target.
Although not as fun as the first, Cyborg Cop II is more competently made. This helps it all feel more like a genuine action movie, but there's still plenty of laughs and cheese to go around.

"He comes alone, with only a woman?... Who the fuck does he think he is!?"  - Spartacus

The last 30 minutes are when things really go over-the-top, the filmmakers decide to cut loose and have some fun, the action gets goofier and even the cyborgs stop being so serious. It really reminds you that these guys truly love making B-movies.

The greatest rescue ever !

Be sure not to miss:

- That guy named Fats must have been a big fan of Razor Ramon
- The most intense opening title font.
- Just like the first movie, there is no cyborg cop. These movies should really be called Cyborg and Cop

Internet review:
"Turn off your brain, grab a few beers and watch."  - aloep

Should I watch it?
Another B-action movie that is sure to entertain.

Where can I find it?
On the YouTubes
