Mike Colby
Commander Mike Colby is an expert at fixing space problems, so when an isolated research station on a distant planet sends out a distress signal, Mike is quick to come to their aid.
The lead scientists are Dr. Glaser, Dr. Hauser and Dr. Timbergen, and their problem is that they created a lifeform that has proven to be quite deadly. The creature is just a small blob, but it's a genetic mutant that is unpredictable enough to have already killed someone.

Mike sees no problems in destroying the blob, but the scientists consider it too valuable to be destroyed and want to study its unique qualities. This, of course, gives the blob time to mutate, escape its confines, and kill another person!
Looks like this space problem just got a lot more serious.

The creature is growing at an alarming rate, becoming smarter and more dangerous as it evades Mike's best efforts to find it and stop it. The team of scientists begin to panic, and tensions rise among them as they have conflicting ideas on what to do with their escaped experiment before it kills them all.

"I got a motto: if it moves and it's not one of us, shoot it." - Mike

Yes, this is basically just an Alien copycat, but it's another Roger Corman production that was made during the creative surge of his studio that pumped out an abundance of really classic exploitation B movies.

The movie is well put together and the acting is solid, creating a believable environment for the suspense to build and the violence to unfold. There is some decent gore and slime here, and although the creature effects aren't going to be winning any prizes they still look crazy enough to be memorable.

One aspect that really stands-out is the editing. It can get rather experimental at times, which creates a surreal tone to some of the events. It's a creative flourish that helps elevate the simplicity of the script to something a bit more unique, while still remaining in the traditional grindhouse sci-fi genre.

There are even some good twists and surprises here, which keep you entertained and laughing at the whole crazy scenario of slime, science and random nudity. If you're in the mood for wild space times with that classic Corman feel, Forbidden World delivers the goods.

Be sure not to miss:
- They nickname the creature Dingwhopper.
- DINGWHOPPER!!??
- The space saxophone looks cool.
