Hundra is the strongest fighter in a nomadic tribe of Amazonian warrior women who live without the aid of men, only occasionally interacting with them for mating purposes. The tribe is always on the move, to avoid the many men that fear them and want to enslave them. While Hundra is away hunting, a group of such men find her village, and although the ladies are far from defenseless they are outnumbered and everyone is slaughtered!
Full of rage, Hundra tracks the men down and single-handedly kills them all, but now she is the lone survivor of her people with only her horse and faithful dog as companions.
She visits a wise woman for guidance, and is told that she must find a mate so that she can begin to rebuild her tribe. Hudra reluctantly agrees, and heads towards the city on what I would call a "revenge sex quest."
All the men she meets are violent slobs or disgusting pigs that she has to kick the crap out of. Worst of all is Lord Napkin, a rich slave trader that would like to own her, but Hundra isn't going to let that happen. Besides, she has her eyes set on Pateray, a respected doctor who is intelligent and kind. Unfortunately, he has no interest in dating a wild barbarian lady.

| Pateray Tracima Lord Napkin |
In order to win over Pateray, Hundra befriends a lady named Tracima who teaches her how to be elegant, pretty and polite. Meanwhile, Lord Napkin is always trying to capture her for his pet. The movie meanders around for a long time with this stuff before we get back to any action. Luckily, the climactic battle is pretty good when Hundra decides to kick some serious ass.
"The seed of Hundra is in all women." - Chrysula
As a character, Hundra is an awesome badass and is very likeable. But the movie's main weakness is that it can't decide whether it's a brutal revenge story or a light-hearted romance about a lady trying to get laid. The shifting tone doesn't really work here. There also definitely some pointless filler, with some dull sections dragging on forever without any reason. (Apparently, I watched the extended director's cut.)
The movie's far from terrible and is a lot of fun at times, but it falls short of being great, especially when our heroine's main goal is to win a man's heart instead of sticking her sword through it.
Be sure not to miss:
- Hundra testing out lipstick.
- Did the director really hate ducks?
- Music by Ennio Morricone.
Internet review:
"Hundra is a welcome change of pace for the genre." - Mavis the Goat
Should I watch it?
Decent, but not essential viewing.
Where can I find it?
Right here.
Hundra gets...
