Yuan
The story begins with a flashback explaining how a young man named Yuan made an expedition into the jungle last year, and there he rescued a lady named Betsy from her own tribe that was about to sacrifice her to a Skeleton Demon that they worship. Betsy is saved and Yuan escapes back to Hong Kong, but the evil Sorcerer of the tribe curses him, giving Yuan only one year to live.

Now, as that one year deadline approaches, Yuan is beginning to feel the painful effects of the curse, and he fears for his life. He goes to his wise professor for advice, and he explains that Yuan needs to go back into the jungle to try to find a way for the tribe to cure him.
Yuan won't be going alone though, he gets help from a military guy named Huh Lung, and a zany reporter lady, Tsai, tags along too.

Betsy                         Huh Lung                                 Tsai                                Sorcerer

It's a dangerous adventure into the jungle as they seek out the tribe and try to find a cure for Yuan. They meet-up with Betsy again, and luckily she can use her own witchcraft to help combat the evil Sorcerer. They also brought a bunch of guns and grenades to help win their fight, but will it be enough against the supernatural might of the horrid Skeleton Demon!?

The start of this movie is a bit rocky and confusing because there's a story within a story at first, but once everything's established it's a non-stop rollercoaster ride. It's clear that they had a big budget to work with, so the special effects and huge set-pieces are quite impressive. Not to mention the flying baby-demon-fetus that is fueled on the blood of children!

There is no shortage of creativity on the screen, and some of the gore and fight scenes had me literally cheering. It's a perfect mix of horror, martial arts, fantasy, and mystical voodoo, all delivered in that unique Honk Kong gonzo style of over-the-top fun.

Be sure not to miss:
- The inflatable car jack.
- How did Yuan swallow that huge gem?
- The "child juicer."
Chow Yun Fat has a small role, and he even gets to shoot a rocket launcher.
