Turk
A mafia-type gang, led by a cruel man named Feliciano, have kidnapped a young boy named Stevie from his mother, Rebecca. She goes to the police for help and that's where she meets Turk, and tough cop that plays by his own rules.

Turk's aptitude for annoying his superiors often gets him into trouble, but Rebecca decides this might just be the type of hero she needs to rescue Stevie. Turk and his partner Jaguar agree to help, even if it means they gotta work without back-up from the police force.

Turk discovers that Rebecca's ex husband, a goofball named Joe, owes Feliciano six million dollars, and that's why Stevie's been kidnapped. Their first job is to track down Joe and beat some answers out of him.

Turk, Jaguar and Rebecca make a good team, and they're soon getting into fights as they get closer to Feliciano. They almost rescue Stevie at one point, but they're outnumbered by a small army of goons. Things don't go as planned more than once, but Turk is running out of time so he calls for help from an unlikely source... A rowdy motorcycle gang!

This is from the same director as Samurai Cop, which should already give you good idea of what to expect here. It doesn't quite match that movie for sheer wackiness, but it still delivers much of the same type of cheesiness, graceless action, and unbelievably silly dialog.
It's mostly inept at times, but made perfectly fun because of it. (Although this is arguably less clumsy than Samurai Cop.)

Bad dudes

There's really good energy here, too, aided by a synth laden score that keeps your foot tapping. Even without a lot of action in the first half, it moves fast and keeps you invested in the character's struggles to get the job done.

Obviously, there's a lot to laugh at here, and one scene in particular where Stevie befriends the dog guarding his room is hilarious. There's a handful of odd moments like that (for example, oil wrestling,) and they keep the nonsense quotient high enough without derailing the story.

Maybe it's not a classic like Samurai Cop, but Hollywood Cop is still pretty damn fun.

Be sure not to miss:
- Turk's full name is Johnny Turquoise, although most people call him Turkey.
Cameron Mitchell plays the police chief, and he's as crazy as ever.
- Troy Donahue and Aldo Ray also have small roles.
- "I get gas. Every day ends with a Tums festival !!"
- Stevie really loved that goat.
