Bottom of the Barrel: Exhibit #12

It's the distant future, and humankind is making first contact with an alien species but things take a turn for the worst when the aliens become extremely hostile. Led by a tyrant named Lord Kess, the aliens are bombing Earth from their indestructible spaceships.
The military is desperate for help, so they send Lt. Hollywood to ask the genius, but dangerously unorthodox, Professor Mauri for assistance in stopping Lord Kess.
Mauri agrees to help only if he can work outside the law, so he hires a scoundrel named Dirk to get together a team of expert criminals. And with a little hypnosis, Hollywood is also working for Mauri now.

Dirk                                  Hollywood

Most of the movie is Dirk and Hollywood recruiting the team, as they break two scientists out of space jail, hire a few fighters, and reactivate two sad robots named Till and Tilly. It's all very clumsy and low budget, but you can tell there's ambition here to be more than just a Star Wars or Star Trek clone.
Even though there's plenty of unintentional humour, the plot is slow and jumbled and we never really get to know any of the characters. Most of the action is saved for the second half when our team of anti-heroes start fighting back against Lord Kess and his army of androids.

"Kess is probing very profoundly." - Professor Mauri

The robots Till and Tilly are just bonkers. They're super depressed and just want to kill themselves, and the only reason they join the team is for a chance to end their boredom. Oddly enough, they become the most fleshed-out characters that actually have a story arc.

Till and Tilly meet the butler droid

As far as trashy European space exploitation goes, this is slightly more fun than I expected but the lack of budget really prevents it from delivering excitement. The biggest flaw would be the wack continuity, because it seems like some scenes are completely out of order.

The ensemble cast of actors give it their all, and the story covers a lot of ground as they fight to save Earth from the clutches of Kess, but I never really cared about anything. I just wanted to see what random sci-fi gibberish the movie would attempt to pull-off next.

Edgar Winter androids

Be sure not to miss:
- Hollywood is always striking really weird poses.
- The boxing android deserves his own movie.
- Some of the background alien costumes are so hideous and goofy.

Internet review:
"This movie is so bad I had to watch it a second time to check if I was hallucinating." - EddStarr

Should I watch it?
It's fun, but not enough to be amazing.
