Now this is the type of movie I was hoping to find for Cynthia RothRocktober.

China O'Brien is a no-nonsense cop working the mean streets of the city, but when one of her martial art students gets killed while she's trying to protect him from thugs, China decides she's had enough of the dangerous lifestyle and she retires from the police force.

She heads to her small hometown for a reunion with her dad, who also happens to be the local sheriff, and an old boyfriend named Matt.
It doesn't take long before China notices that her town has changed for the worse. Half of the cops on the force are crooked, and a man named Mr. Sommer controls most of the town with his discreet organized crime.

The sheriff has been trying to stop Sommer, but his investigation only leads to tragedy when he is killed by a suspicious car bomb!

With her dad dead, China decides to campaign for the job of the new sheriff so that she can clean-up the town and get justice. Sommer and his small army of goons are not going without a fight and they'll do anything to stop China from getting the badge. Luckily, she gets help from Matt and a mysterious man named Dakota who both want to see Sommer behind bars as much as she does.

                         Matt & Dakota                                                               Mr. Sommer

Although the plot is simple it's also fast-paced and very effective at building tension and establishing the characters, which had me completely drawn into the story. It's still a low budget affair, but it feels much more like a real movie than something like Lady Dragon did.

There's plenty of action here, usually in the form of bar brawls and street fights as the three heroes kick the ass of anyone that gets in their way. China's mostly just fighting drunk rednecks instead of kung-fu masters, but the fights still look good with a raw energy to them.

"Looks like were going to find out who's really running this town." - Deputy Lickner

Even Cynthia Rothrock's acting seems to be better than usual, and it's easy to see why this is one of the roles she's most remembered for. China is a strong and likeable character, and I was cheering for her to win.
Despite being predictable, this is a really entertaining movie if you're looking for butt-kicking brawls and a good old fashioned straight-to-video justice story.

Be sure not to miss:
- Dakota has a really fake looking fake hand. It's like a hunk of metal with an old sock wrapped around it.
- Despite the fact that Matt was from this small American town, Richard Norton does nothing to hide his thick Australian accent.
- Take a drink every time someone wearing flannel gets kicked or punched.
