Col. Holmes
When a mysteriously abandoned shipping vessel is found off the coast of New York, the police and health officials go aboard to look for evidence of the crew's fate. Besides a few mutilated corpses all they find are hundreds of weird avocado-like eggs incubating in the ship's hold. These slimy orbs quickly reveal that they're full of dangerous acid goo, and any human that comes into contact with the acid immediately (and very violently) explodes!!

Lt. Aris of the NYPD is the only man to escape and he's soon working with Colonel Stella Holmes from the Department of Defense, as the government takes over the emergency situation of what has been found aboard the ship.

Holmes and her scientists begin to suspect the eggs are some type of deadly bacteria that would not normally exist on Earth. They officially have a "space egg" problem, but who's responsible for transporting this deadly cargo around the globe?

Holmes decides to contact an astronaut that returned from a Mars mission a few years ago with a bizarre story about finding an evil alien presence. That man is Hubbard, who lives as a recluse drunk after being ridiculed and discharged from the space program for his lunatic rants about extraterrestrial life...  But now Holmes realizes that Hubbard was right and they need his help!

Definitely not an avocado

The first half builds a competent and suspenseful sci-fi thriller with great atmosphere, but around 45 minutes the plot begins to suffer from the mundane. It's fun watching the team of Holmes, Aris and Hubbard come together and unravel the mystery of the slimy space eggs, but a whole lot of nothing begins to happen when they follow the clues to South America.

Lt. Aris                                                         Hubbard

Despite a serious delivery, the movie also adds a nice amount of R-rated gore, subtle humour and B-movie nonsense to make it enthusiastic. Sitting through the lackluster middle section does reward you with a ridiculous climax, including some very memorable special effects, but the story lost its ambition somewhere along the way and everyone forgot what type of movie they had started with.

Be sure not to miss:
- The soundtrack is done by the legendary Goblin, and it's pretty awesome.
- One of the best slaps in cinema history.
- Rats enough!

Internet review:
"It's part Alien, part James Bond, and all Italian schlock." - CriticalChris
