The few people in town are beginning to get frightened as the hippies start to run wild. There's Mildred, who owns the only store, Sylvia's grandpa and little brother Pete. Eventually, one of the hippies even decides to leave the gang and help the town, his name is Andy.
No one knows what to do about the dangerous gang, but then Pete gets an idea on how to get rid them. He shoots a rabid dog and collects its blood, then he injects the blood into a dozen meat pies and delivers them to the hippies.
It doesn't immediately kill them as Pete was hoping, so instead unexpected mayhem occurs as the gang all get rabies and go completely insane with rage! As the virus spreads can the remaining townsfolk survive, or will they all be torn apart by the bloodthirsty satanic hippies!?

Although the first half of this movie is a bit slow, it always has a twisted energy just below the surface, hinting that things are going to get wild and weird at any moment. And when the rabies get introduced into the picture, things definitely get wild.
There is a fair amount of violence, but it's sloppy enough that it comes across as rather fun and amusing instead of disturbing. The sloppiness extends to many aspects of the movie, but the entire story is coherent and the actors do a decent enough job. Horace is especially fun to watch, as the actor brings a lot of enthusiasm to the role.
This is grimy, sleazy exploitation at its finest, and the movie has well earned its cult status as a bizarre and bloody trip into madness. There are a few moments here that had me thinking "Just when I thought I'd seen it all, this happens." Which obviously had me clapping and laughing.
Be sure not to miss:
- Does the boa constrictor have a moustache?
- The music is pretty crazy and sloppy.
- Rats enough!

"A fun trash film that all lovers of sleazy cinematic shit stains should sit down and savor." - CoolAssC
